🤠 Back again, but just better
Woah — feels like weeks since I last wrote this newsletter.
No joke, I literally had to remind myself that I didn’t miss a newsletter weekend like 3 times this week post-Thursday — it’s been that crazy.
Good crazy, obviously.
This is Week 8 of The Unicorn Founder and I have just become a LOT more public about building-in-public.
First week of Nights & Weekends is over, my socials are only getting started, the startup website is rolling out, and we’re about to be finished with the AI cold-calling app — and hopefully I’ll have some valuable insights hidden throughout.
This Week’s Update Overview
🤠 Nights & Weekends Week 1: All about finding/refining your idea down to the level that anyone can understand with just one line + some encouragement to “get out there”.
🕺 The Social Media Plan: I am “getting out there” practically everywhere on a much more consistent basis, with some interesting takes on building-in-public (maybe you’ll like them… maybe).
💻 The Startup Website: Ah finally, got something together and just went for it — spent pretty much the whole of Saturday getting this monster under control — first public link found in this newsletter… aren’t you special ;)
☎️ The AI Cold-Calling App: It’s largely done, but it also isn’t — as every other founder can probably attest to — first product launch is not optimal, industry-grade stuff, but we’re putting it out there anyways.
➡️ What’s Next: Another week lies ahead meaning another opportunity to absolutely destroy any and all competition with our speed, tenacity, and jet-fuelled-coffee-dosed-maniacs-for-founders.
🤠 Nights & Weekends Week 1
Week 1/6 completed.
The n&w dashboard for those not part of this season.
The whole idea was to figure out what you wanted to work on for a whole week — why a whole week you ask, so that you truly go after it with full force for the full 6 weeks.
You would then display your idea in a one-line format with a 2-3 sentence subheading giving it more context.
The whole point is not use any fancy, vague, and unnecessary words such as “platform, system, dashboard, etc. “ — i.e. words that don’t really give you the specifics of the idea.
The one-liner you were required to have completed this week.
Plus, the requirement was to also give quality feedback on 3 other people online somewhere.
Which meansss: you had to post your stuff online in some sort of format.
Knowing me, I just went full-on with this instruction by posting on Linkedin, X, Instagram, and even TikTok.
— which got me inspired, excited, and super keen to really build in public properly — more on that next.
Alright so building in public is not easy — you need to show people how bad things are before they actually get good — and that’s not nice for perfectionists like myself.
BUT — I acknowledge the power of it, my elaboration in this post.
So, the social media takeover beginsss — queue dramatic music.
Crazy, I know.
But, these are all gonna be short-short videos between 20 - 40 seconds each — in an extremely “rough” format providing enough time to give an update and not too much time to end up waffling.
The point is to make content creation as easy + simple as possible, requiring little to no editing besides captions and music, so that I can do it every single day.
Worst case scenario: I lose 30 mins out of my day — makes up for the lack of social media consumption I do.
Let’s see what happens :))))
💻 The Startup Website
I had been putting this off for soooo long (2.5 days to be exact) but finally I got stuck in and spent my whole Saturday getting the fundamental foundations of the website started.
The website is by far nowhere near done, but it is out there live, chillin’ on the internet, waiting for beautiful people like you to go visit it.
So, go take a look if you want — one day you’ll see it lookin’ a lot nicer, so this you chance to catch it in it’s most primitive form.
Oh yeah, almost forgot — the website was being built on Webflow, but then I found this INSANE web builder called framer, and oh my — I am in love.
I thought I loved Webflow, but in fact, I love Framer — she is the one I always wanted, with perfect integration to Figma, unbelievably smooth functionality, and jaw-dropping ease of use for young, inexperienced web builders with a dream aka. me it’s everything I ever needed.
Wish I was sponsored, but I’m not — yet!
☎️ The AI Cold-Calling App
Okay okay, last but not least — the beta app that is rolling out this next week ahhhhhh — so coollll…
The whole idea: To leverage AI to make cold-calls for you on autopilot and gather data from those calls (for the leads that have given consent) — don’t worry we checked the law :)
This completely changes the way real estate agents operate by giving them hours, if not days or even weeks back.
Agents can now spend that time chatting with clients, doing property tours, and just building meaningful relationships with them rather than sitting in a cold, dark room calling strangers for hours on end.
This is where we’re starting… but there is so much more on its way and I cannot wait to get it out there — which is in part probably why I am so obsessed about just building 247.
➡️ What’s Next
I’ll be short and sweet here:
Getting beta product out and testing with first client (on free trial)
Refining + improving that beta product (which is the cold-calling automation btw)
Clearly the main focus is launching & testing product.
Continuing to post daily on socials the grindddd of building this startup aka. billion dollar company.
😌 Want to give honest feedback?
All you need to do is reply to this email to tell me your experience versus expectations.
I’ll see what I can do to improve either a) the experience or b) the expectations I am promoting.
Or just thank you for the really helpful feedback :))))
