exploration

a bit of wandering here and there

i have been curious lately.

curious in testing out different pathways.

instead of letting an insatiable desire to generate some sort of cash direct my actions, i have been following more of an intuitive, “oh, this is cool” approach.

welcome back everyone to week 29 of the unicorn founder, damn. crazy stuff. every week that i sit down and write these letters, it feels so cathartic, so fantastically relaxing.

my younger mind prioritised cash > curiosity, but the course of this year has changed that perspective.

today’s menu:
→ current curiosity
→ content
→ treasure chest

CURRENT CURIOSITY

there have been a few alternative priorities this week, one of which was the residency application.

tuesday night was the interview, which went pretty well, but we’ll find out just how well that went after this weekend.

today is the last date for applications and so, hopefully results will start coming through…

but in any case i will still head over to san fran in january, getting into the residency just makes it one million times better.

in terms of learning the coding: current focus is on learning react

personally, i am finding it pretty straightforward, and i think that’s just the fruits from taking my time in learning the foundations of programming thoroughly and correctly.

projects built this week: 0

but next week… oh boy, have i got a lot of cool things to put out to the world.

CONTENT

distribution is something anyone can start to build.

start a youtube channel, an instagram account, a linkedin page, a blog, a newsletter! anything.

my hunch is to go all-in on building a distribution network whilst i do what i am doing, because my future self will be thankful for it.

and so what i have been experimenting with in regards to the content i am putting out to the world is to share more of my crazy ideas.

ideas that involve changing a big way in which we do things in the world.

for example:

  1. skyscrapers that harvest water from the dew that accumulates on their surface overnight.

  2. underwater hydroelectric turbines that are rotated by underwater current channels (for example the east australian current — it’s in nemo).

  3. the removal of aeroplanes to instead have an outer-orbital space hub that acts as a transportation network for humans to travel across the world.

these are some ideas i have been posting about and just really entertaining.

it’s how my mind works, and it feels right to pursue creating more content that shares the most natural way my mind operates.

here are some pics to give your eyes a break:

it allows me to channel all my dreaming into something that might end up becoming a distinguishing factor about me: someone seeking to innovate

one of the questions i have been asking myself is: how do we innovate?

and the answer i have so far is: we take fundamentally different concepts and apply them in fundamentally unexpected places and ways.

and that’s really the mindset behind all my ideas.

so, my hope is that in sharing them, i will be creating future value for myself when it comes to distribution.

TREASURE CHEST

one new thing i did this week

→ rock climbing

life lessons:
→ it’s a lot easier when you lean back
→ progress comes from trusting yourself
→ falling means you are pushing boundaries

brownie points for the residency

task: send memes

life lessons:
→ don’t take things too seriously
→ do not fear the path of unconventionalism
→ if you’re going to go after great things, at least have fun whilst you’re at it

🕺 thanks for coming everybody
