Modus Mentis:

Chase Fear... always

I like to move fast.

But I also like to move in the right direction.

Moving in the right direction is priority no. 1 and doing it quickly, priority no. 2

And today marks Week 21 of The Unicorn Founder; it’s been real this week:

→ ❌ Rejected from YC
→ ✅ Accepted into Founder University Accelerator.
→ 🧠 Finished 15 CSS/HTML micro projects to learn the language.
→ ✅ Attended StartClub ZA’s startup showcase in CPT.
→ 💰 Courting a million dollars of investment.
→ 💡 Very interesting San Francisco idea → implementation on it’s way.

There is so much I have to share with you, it feels like what some might call maturity, of which I am calling a new corner being crossed.

Lessons

YC

The plan was to never get in or to not get in…

→ The Plan: to build something people want, to scale it, and to turn it into a billion dollar company + add more zeros as we grow.

And that’s what we’re doing.

I have zero sentimental value to getting in or not. Which brings me to my next learning…

Internal > External

Make yourself want to be better.
It must come from self.

You will forever be swayed between emotions and ever-changing levels of motivation if you rely on someone/something else to motivate you.

YC doesn’t motivate me.
My competition doesn’t motivate me.
My team doesn’t motivate me.
My family doesn’t motivate me.

My future self motivates me.
→ he visits me, speaks with me, encourages me, and shows me what is and what will become of myself and my life.

The best part?
Nobody and nothing can take that from me. It is permanent and untouchable.

Why does this matter?
I am continuing to build, every single day, nonstop, because it is only me versus me.

Takes blue ocean thinking to a completely new level.

Speed is irrelevant if direction is wrong

Stop being in an unnecessary hurry and figure out where you’re headed.

That doesn’t mean you now have an excuse to “chill and relax”

The opposite is true:
→ You need to get up and actually go do the work required to align your metaphorical sails. And that doesn’t need to take a long time either — in fact it shouldn’t.

Perception > Reality

Things are not easy and life gets difficult, yes 100% agree, there’s a “but” coming…

Our lives are complex, yes.
Great pursuits are difficult, yes.
The requirements for excellence are high, yes.
We are all allotted different talents, yes.
Not everyone is given opportunities, yes.
Not all tasks are made equal, yes.

But, all things are possible if you align your mind towards that level of abundance.

Abundance in:
— talents
— opportunities
— skills
— capabilities
— strength
— intelligence

This is where you can begin to transform your reality through the lens at which you view it through.

And that’s how I see all things, in particular one snippet of that:

“I will build a billion dollar company (and then some) because I know that I am willing to go further than any other is person is willing, able, and/or capable of going to.”

An Idea

How do you manifest the following words into clothing?

→ RELENTLESS
→ AMBITION
→ SELF-CONTROL
→ DISCIPLINE
→ INTENSITY
→ ALL-IN
→ CONQUER
→ BILLIONS
→ FOUNDER
→ GENIUS
→ UNDENIABLE
→ DELUSION
→ GRAVITY
→ ONE
→ ABUNDANCE

We gon’ see, we gon’ see.. something is coming, and it’s big, ah it’s so big.

Startup Update

  1. Built the inbound lead qualification automation — demoing it to some investors on next week Tuesday night.

  2. Building a proof-of-concept for a customer-facing bot, with generative AI, for a corporate agency.

  3. Perhaps going to do the 12-week virtual accelerator program from Founder University ($125k on the line in investment).

The End (or the beginning 👀 )

That’s it for this week.
